Historically, security in Indonesia’s environment has always been culturally present. Before the word “satpam” short for “satuan pengamanan” or security unit was common, patrols around residential areas was done as a communal activity or - “Siskamling” or Sistem Keamanan Lingkungan where a group of men would take rounds in securing their neighborhood. As a form of security with limited functionality on the communities’ own will, awareness, and interest, this form of security activities to this day is officially recognized by the National Police of Indonesia.

Then, in the 80’s a Decree was passed to help the Indonesian National Police – that had a limited amount of personnel – to protect retail and office areas. These security guard personnel would be trained by the police but paid for by private security companies. This is when the term satpam came about.

Through the years, security management was developed further as more and more establishments comprehended its importance, not only as the obvious benefits of safety and security, but also as an added value to their company image and in attracting more customers and clients.

In 2006, PT Dharma Bumi Harmoni (DBH) was established under the initiative of providing an advance security and parking management company for Indonesia. Fast forward almost two decades later, DBH has established itself as a reputable security and parking management company in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi cities and regencies (Jabodetabek), ready to expand into other derivatives of this business.
